The Lumen Institute creates spaces for deep inquiry, thoughtful reflection, and intellectual connection led by PhD‑level instructors.

We offer curated, cohort‑based seminars grounded in feminist, queer, and decolonial thought, inviting participants to engage with ideas not as abstractions, but as lived practices that shape how we understand ourselves, our communities, and the world. Like transformative learning traditions, we see education as a means of reimagining what is possible in both personal and collective life.

We believe learning is relational, reflective, and generative. Most importantly, learning never ends! In our seminars, participants of all ages and backgrounds come together in small groups to read, discuss, and think with texts that challenge conventional framings of identity, belonging, power, and care. Drawing inspiration from lived experience as well as intellectual traditions, Lumen fosters spaces where ideas are enacted through conversation, connection, and collective reflection, not simply consumed.

Our work is not about credentials or academic hierarchy, but about nourishing the mind, deepening understanding, and cultivating thoughtful relationships to ideas and to one another. As a transformative learning community, we invite participants to re‑engage with themselves and the world through rigorous inquiry and mutual support.
